The Wonderkids: Part 3

The Wonderkids: Part 3

Borrusia Mochengladbach have a reputation for nurturing some of the best talent German football has produced in recent years, however, in Mahmoud Dahoud they have one of the brightest stars not in just German but world football. Several British newspapers have recently linked the Germany U21 international with a move to Liverpool but the Anfield outfit face stiff competition from a host of other European clubs for the signature of the tireless midfielder.

"Dahoud played very, very well today. He really showed us how much potential he has", high praise for Germany's golden gem from one of Germanys greatest, Lothar Matthaus heaped praise on Dahoud after watching him play and there are some compelling similarities between the two. Dahoud is a lively, all-round midfield talent, combining a vigorous work ethic with a broad range of passing and tenacious pressing and ball-winning. His short passing is usually flawless but he is just as adept at firing longer, more direct balls when the opportunity arises. A confident dribbler who is happy to move his team forward, Dahoud is also an accomplished finisher amassing 5 goals from a deep position last year.

With his contract running out in 2018, Gladbach may look to cash in on their prized asset so we may yet see Dahoud playing his trade in the Premier League with the financial power of his suitors proving too alluring for Gladbach to resist.
